I want to take this opportunity to tell all of my supporters how humbled I am by the outpouring of positive emails and phone calls I have received in the face of the negative campaigning from my opponents.
I will never be able to express my gratitude to you for your understanding and support. It is what I should have expected from a group of people I have found to be unwaveringly positive in their service to the community and their vision for the city. Your attitude is infectious and I will carry it on to the Dallas City Council for District 9.
Now I must keep on with my positive campaigning. In the next 18 days, and I will need your help more than ever. We must not let ourselves get drawn away from the issues that face our District and Dallas. We will need to focus all of our efforts on the election on May 12th and
encouraging like-minded voters to support me. (Early voting begins on Monday, April 30th.)
Again, I cannot begin to explain how important your kind words and thoughts have been to me. One of my supporters asked me last December if I was "tough enough" to run in this race and with your unflagging support I have found out I am.
Some of you asked what you can do to help put our campaign over the top on Election Day. Here are two things we need:
1) Volunteers to help spread the word to your friends and neighbors how on crucial it is to get out the vote. If you know people who need to vote early, please let us know and we'll see that they can get a ballot or to the early voting places. Help us to turn out our supporters.
2) Campaigns run on money, and most of it goes to printing, postage and other direct-voter contact. Our mail program began last week and we are well-financed for our original plan. Unfortunately, because of the negative campaigning that opponents have begun, we need to plan for a push to reach the voters with information to counter what we anticipate will be a last minute attack. If you, or people you know, are in a position to contribute funds to the campaign, we would greatly appreciate your participation.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Jill
